Betty Boop used to be cool, but then the Hays Code came into effect, and changed Betty Boop from a sexy flapper girl to a husbandless career girl, and the cartoons being created were aimed at more "juvenile" audiences.
There were a few cartoons that were pretty interesting in the later years of Betty Boop, one of which involved Betty going to a fellow named Grampy's house for some well mannered frivolity in this video.
The girl knows how to tap dance, and Grampy sure likes inventing stuff (a la Rube Goldberg).
Alas, the coolness couldn't last forever, and Betty and a possible Betty Boop feature length movie was put on permanent hiatus. Too bad.
